About Bochner Chiropractic & Sports Injury Care

Too often, injured patients receive a vague diagnosis such as “runner’s knee” or “lower back strain,” and are told to take anti-inflammatory medications and rest a few weeks. After taking a few weeks off, and slowly getting back to the sports they love, the pain returns. Sound familiar? There is a better approach for those who’d like to stay active.

This approach looks beyond simply relieving your pain, but looks to conquer the underlying issues causing it.  First, treatment is not only directed towards the injured, painful area but also related muscles and joints that might not be painful.  Then, to prevent re-injury, any imbalances in your posture, muscle balance, and movement are addressed with corrective treatment, rehabilitative exercises and self-care techniques. Rehab is assisted by Certified Personal Trainers with both professional and personal athletic experience. Dr. Bochner and staff strive to help you resume your favorite activities as soon as possible! About Dr. Bochner:

Dr. Bochner is Board Certified in Sports Injuries and in Active Release Techniques (ART) since 1994, which makes him one of the earliest providers to use ART. He was an assistant instructor for ART from 2012 to 2020 and is also a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  Dr. Bochner uses the above approach to treat both traumatic and over-use injuries in athletes from recreational to elite level as well as a broad range of injuries seen in everyday life.

Dr. Bochner has both the personal and professional experience to help you reach your health and fitness goals. As a college wrestler, chiropractic care helped him compete at a high level. Since then, he has competed in running and triathlon events for over 30 years, including the 1997 National Amateur Olympic Distance Championships, the 1995 Pan Am Maccabi Games, the New York City Marathon (2009, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023), Timberman 70.3 Half Ironman 2011, Toughman Half Iron 2019, Jones Beach Half Ironman 2024, Philadelphia Marathon (2012, 2015), Boston Marathon (2014, 2015, 2016, 2022), London Marathon 2024, Ironman Lake Placid 2013 and 2017, and Ironman Mont Tremblant 2015, 2016.  Dr. Bochner is a competitive age-grouper, placing in local races. He understands what it takes to remain healthy while training and competing.

With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Bochner has run his own office in New York City since 1995.  He has been an event coverage doctor for Ironman Lake Placid (9 years), New York City Triathlon (10 years), Westchester Triathlon, the National Track and Field Championships, the Pan Am Maccabi Games, Maccabi Youth Games, and over a hundred events in total.  He was the chiropractic/athlete recovery director for the Toughman Half Iron race 2008-2019, and was the medical director from 2008-2013. He also has been on the treatment team for the AVP (Pro Beach Volleyball) New York Open Tournament (2015, 16, 17) and Steve Nash Charity Shield and Showdown soccer tournaments and games (2017, 2018, 2019, 2023). In 2010, Dr. Bochner founded Sports Chiropractors of New York (SCNY), a non-profit organization of sports chiropractors providing event coverage and continuing education for doctors as well as informing the public on the chiropractic approach to health and fitness. He also provides free injury prevention clinics for athletes, running/tri clubs and local corporations, including his proprietary Prepare to CompeteTM Injury Prevention System.  In 2013 Dr. Bochner introduced Traininghistory.com, where patients can fill out their initial health history, log their response to treatment and daily athletic activities, as well as view their own personalized exercise videos. Dr. Bochner is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College and Binghamton University.
